Julia knew from the size of a fire extinguisher that she wanted to be a veterinarian. Cats have been part of her life since she was four years old and strongly guided her entire veterinary studies. After her first year of studies, it was clear she would become a feline specialist.

Julia graduated from the University of Helsinki in 2018 and has completed further training in feline medicine in feline medicine, cardiology and dentistry. Solving internal medicine cases, exploring behavioural issues and figuring out feline nutrition puzzles are Julia’s favourite pastimes.

Julia makes sure that the clinic serves quality loose-leaf tea rather than Lipton. During the winter season, video game consumption is significant — you definitely will not find Julia on a cross-country ski trail.

At home, Julia serves two rescue cats, Minttu and Tilli.

Susanna has worked with animals for over 10 years. Cats have been important to Susanna since childhood, although the professional crystallisation of this passion took a little longer than usual. Susanna graduated as a veterinary nurse in 2017. At work, her heart is closest to emergency and internal medicine patients, and meeting patients in a cat-friendly way. She aims to obtain a specialist qualification for veterinary nurses and to deepen her cat-nursing certificate to diploma level.

Susanna is a former chef, and occasionally her colleagues get to enjoy (?) her baked goods. Ethical practices, such as workers’ rights, are also important to her — Susanna has been playfully nicknamed the team’s “union boss”.

At home, Susanna serves two sister cats rescued by an animal welfare organisation — Waldo and Wicca.

Suvi had already written in her friendship book at age 9 that she wanted to be a veterinarian when she grew up, but art took her on a detour first.

Suvi has worked with animals in one way or another for over ten years, including a long stint as a foster home for an animal welfare organisation. She graduated as a veterinary nurse in early 2024 and simultaneously completed a specialist module in feline nutrition, which is one of her particular areas of interest.

By her previous profession, Suvi is a visual artisan, and with the clinic she gets to express her creative side as well.

At home, Suvi has five domestic cats, of which two, Miisa and Oona, are older ladies, while the younger bunch includes Hertta and the twins Eetu and Nelli. The household also includes five male rats, who get along very well with the cats.

Anne’s journey to becoming a veterinarian has been long and winding, but everything she has done has always been driven by a deep passion and a desire to do things properly. Anne grew up in a family of musicians, and creativity and art have always been a central part of her life and identity. After her years as a young musician, Anne worked as a psychiatric nurse on the human side and completed a qualification as a solution-focused brief therapist.

Anne’s passion for cats was sparked while volunteering in cat rescue work. Even when applying to veterinary school, it was clear that Anne wanted to work as a cat veterinarian, and she began her veterinary career working directly with cats as soon as she was licensed. In feline medicine, Anne is especially interested in internal medicine and emergency care. She is also currently deepening her knowledge of feline surgery.

In her free time, you’ll most likely find Anne at home reading books or out and about with her adventure cat Viljo. Besides Viljo, Anne’s life is brightened by her sport dogs Alma and Minni.

Nano’s dream job has been an animal caretaker since childhood. Nano first studied for a basic vocational qualification in animal care, graduating in 2011, and started working as a nurse at an animal clinic at that time. Nano then completed a vocational qualification as a clinic veterinary nurse through an apprenticeship, graduating in 2014. In 2021, Nano completed a further vocational qualification (specialising in work supervision and organisation, and internal medicine and surgical nursing). Nano has worked in both day clinics and emergency care.

Treatment of pets with musculoskeletal conditions is close to Nano’s heart, and she also completed a vocational qualification in canine massage in 2023. In clinic work, Nano’s favourite things also include internal medicine patients and meeting a wide variety of clients.

At home, Nano has a cat named Utu and three dogs, Naava, Halo and Hasse. Nano loves being out in nature while practising photography. When the weather allows, the cat joins the dogs for a short walk in the woods, safely out and about in a harness.
